Happy New Year - with pictures

It's been almost a month since my last post, and I figured it was about time I put some pictures up here. I've been on and off with Creme Complete, but decided instead I'd switch to something a bit more soothing. Creme Complete is a superb product, don't get me wrong. But it doesn't seem to agree with me under certain conditions (when I'm overly tired, run down, or stressed, for instance). I decided rather than deal with itching on affected BXO areas, I'd make the transition to Comfrey. After all, it's summer here, so the nearby plant I found a year ago should be up again now anyway.

I will do a separate post on how I use Comfrey at a later stage, but for now, here's some photos of how I'm looking today.
Note the small amount of white skin just above my thumb in this picture.
The inner foreskin used to be almost pure white. Today, it's almost the same colour as the skin on my fingers again.
The area showing the most apparent traces of white skin - the underside of the glans. This is by far the most slow moving, stubborn patch of skin I have.

The view that first brought me here to begin with - the underside, showing just how well the shaft skin is healing and returning back to its normal appearance and texture.
I still think I've got some way to go before I'll be happy with the appearance, but compared to this, it's almost perfect!
Look at the width of skin between the glans and circumcision scar - no wonder women experience noticeable tightening from this awful disease.

  1. It looks fantastic! From the pics, it looks normal...would not have thought there was a skin issue. And from all the other sites I've been reading, getting rid of the white areas is the hardest, most stubborn part. You are doing a great job!!! I am happy to see this. Is your main complaint right now itching?

    1. Thanks for the positive comments. Yes, it is slowly coming along. The underside of the glans is the part I'm now most unhappy with.

The itching is only a problem when using Creme Complete, so I've given up on that. Sometimes, I'll do a one-off treatment to make it peel again for a few days, but the itching is hardly worth it.

    1. Looking at your pics, it does look like a very very mild case of BXO causing the foreskin to tighten. There were one or two pics in particular that certainly looked that way.

You say it keeps coming back when you don't keep the area dry. How long have you been keeping the area dry for the times you notice it improving? And how long do you leave it before it starts to come back?

This is one very slow-moving disease, and whatever you do, you'll have to stick at it for months before noticing a lasting change.

    2. Well just after few days of keeping it dry I noticed the skin to peel off and overall condition to get better. but if I keep area unclean and wet for like 1-2 days it keeps coming back. also i notice that after sleeping when i get up, the skin is whiter and when i use paper to get it dry skin starts to peels off like some layer of bad skin has built up through the night

  4. Forgive me if you have already answered this in a previous post. I went back to read your very first introduction post and realized that you were undergoing foreskin restoration when you started noticing first signs of BXO. Do you feel that the "trauma" on the skin during restoration triggered the BXO into existence? I have read other men say that their Bxo started after an injury to their genital area, whether it was rough sex or getting cut somehow. I specifically remember one young man getting bxo after rough sex when his frenulum was cut. What are your thoughts on how this was triggered for you?

  5. Good question. That seems like a very good topic for a post this week.

  6. Hey mate. 36yo Aussie bloke here. Have had signs of BXO on both foreskin and underside of the head for a few years now. After I was initially diagnosed I tried what the dermatologist prescribed which was Diprosone OV. At the time I remember thinking it really wasn't doing anything and discontinued use after approx a few months. Appearance wise I was able to get away with it sexually up until recently. It was initially only really visible on the foreskin in a vague white speckled line/ring. However it has progressed slowly, to the point now where the white skin has spread to the underside of the head. It's making me paranoid to have sex with the lights on for fear of it being noticed and is now truly f**king with my head... And sex life.

On a good note though.... Massive congrats on your progress and getting your skin back to a 'normal' appearance! It's something I just figured was not possible at all... And I'd almost resigned myself to the fact that I'd have to get circumcised... Which i really really don't want to do. Especially after going back to the specialist, only to have them prescribe exactly the same treatment (diprosone OV) three years later! Their only only solution being...you guessed it: Circumcision.

Reading all the info here is really helpful and I've started a day/night regime: Emu oil/TT Oil mix (50/50) and then the diprosone for the other half of the day. It just seems to be inflaming or making the white areas more prominent on initial observation... But I'll reserve judgement for a week or so I guess. Also trying to keep the foreskin back as much as possible and clear of urine. The issue with this though seems to be that any cream or oil applied seems to rub off after a few hours from movement etc. Any tips suggestions for this?

In terms of BXO... I guess what I have would be considered a very mild case. I try to consider myself lucky... but it is progressing, very much visibly and I just want rid of it altogether!

I'm ordering DMSO, creme complete and will attempt the comfrey treatment you've mentioned soon as well. My question to you and other blokes here is... Has anyone tried PRP as a successful treatment for this condition? It's something I've had success with on my scalp for a separate auto-immune condition called alopecia areata... And is used for repairing/renewing scarred facial skin and also faster healing of injuries in pro sports people. I've seen that it's being used for women's lichen sclerosus and don't see why it wouldn't work for men as well. It would be awkward as all hell to get done, but if it worked then who cares right?!

    1. Welcome, and I'm glad you've found some hope in what I've shared on here thus far. I can totally relate to the 'wanting the lights off' situation you described. That's been me for the last year or so, since I started having sex again. Fortunately, I'm now at the point where I can probably get away with it far more than I realise.

I'm really glad you don't want to get circumcised. If I had a choice, I never would have had it done. That's why I started restoring - I wanted back my normal functionality.

TTO is pretty potent stuff. It did seem to help, but it was pretty harsh in doing so. If I was to start over, I'd adopt much more of a 'burst treatment' methodology - perhaps using TTO for a day, tolerating the burning and whatnot, but then stopping in order to give that skin time to respond and peel away. The thing to be aware of when you get redness from increased circulation is that it seems to make the white areas stand out more, creating the illusion they are getting worse. Don't fall for it. I know how much attention you give yourself during this sadistic disease, but thinking it's getting worse can really mess with your head.

In terms of the issue with creams rubbing off, I wouldn't worry too much about it. When I started, I used to think I had to be constantly submerged in a soup of treatments. But I now believe a lot of treatments are better as 'triggers' to kickstart healing, and that you can continue healing without them. Look at it this way, if your underwear is rubbing off the creams you're adding, then it stands to reason it's also going to rub off any urine or sweat as well. So if creams are coming off, you know you're doing something right. Dryness, in my opinion, is a far more important healer than any other product.

I haven't read anything about PRP being used for LS/BXO. I think the medical industry considers LS 'case closed' for men, since they've got the easy 'solution' of circumcision, as you've seen for yourself.

PRP could probably help, but the challenge would be finding a practitioner to help, and also, not knowing whether it would (as I suspect you'd have to pay for the whole thing).

In my view, dermarolling could also help. I've found the areas that were the fastest to return to normal were the areas that endured injury at some point. But wouldn't want to attempt anything like that without doing so under medical supervision. I just wish there were others out there with the desire we have to find a better way, who are also trained medical professionals. Surely it wouldn't be that hard to research these methods in clinical trials.

    2. Cheers for the quick reply mate. Appreciated.
Funny you mention dermarolling... They performed that as part of the PRP treatment I got on my scalp. Which is also used as part of the 'vampire face lift' that women often get. Aka; PRP injections and then dermarolling to increase blood flow and healing.

You can purchase derma rollers off eBay for literally a few bucks. But the thought of rolling a bunch of needles repeatedly over my c**k does not really appeal to me funnily enough! However, as with PRP, if I knew it worked, I would do it regardless. I know they use derma rolling for scarred tissue on the face, and the general consensus is that is what the white areas are with BXO right? Could be worth a shot... And I'm guessing the foreskin wouldn't hurt as much as the head? Geezus I'm cringing just typing this! Lol

I know PRP is def being used for LS in women. So I don't see why they wouldn't do it for men as well? As you said, the problem then lies in finding someone somewhere who could/would do it.

Anyway... I've been reading a lot about the 'peeling' and how many people including yourself see this as progress. Also you were saying the tea tree oil proved too strong for you to handle? Was this at pure rate? Or 50/50 mixed with another oil? The tea tree oil doesn't seem to burn or bother me at all. Also, I don't think I've ever noticed skin peeling at all. Which then makes me think I need to try something stronger to induce peeling. Maybe I'll try pure TT oil, iodine or hydrogen peroxide.

What's annoying is with treatment, seems to come me noticing more areas of white that I was unaware of before. The ring around my foreskin seems to go all the way around now... But as you said I guess it's probably just because of the redness of the other surrounding skin etc. Either way it ain't pretty.

Cheers for the extra info/advice. It all helps... But damn this disease is a bastard. Completely ruining my sex life and I now have to weigh up whether jerking off is even worth the hassle in terms of affecting healing or makin things worse.

    3. I agree with your thoughts around dermarolling. I'd almost lay money it works, but don't know whether I'm prepared to find out!

I used TTO undiluted when I would put it on. I never diluted it. The burning sensation came on pretty quickly (within a couple of minutes). I have no experience with Iodine, but used Hydrogen Peroxide a lot in the early days with a lot of success. It's cheap enough (make sure you only get the medical grade 3% solution, and apply it liberally, then keep your penis covered, rather than exposed and dry).

How long have you noticed the skin going all the way around? It could be a couple of things. Maybe by staring at it all the time and studying yourself closer, you're noticing things you didn't before? Or, it could also be that the white skin is dying off and getting ready for its first peel. When I first had that happen, it freaked me out, because I thought it had started to spread. But it was actually just getting ready for a peel.

Masturbation won't hurt you, unless it actually literally hurts (you will generally only notice it afterwards). I decided I was allowed SOME rewards while I was suffering, even if sex was out of the question.

    4. As far as the white skin appearing to go all the way under/around... I feel like it's appeared out of nowhere since I've started re-treatment. Aka: spreading or getting worse. my rational mind tells me it's just the surrounding exaggerated red/healthy skin around it that is making it now appear worse? That not how it looks or feels though....

Anyway, I ordered some derma-rollers and numbing cream. Lol. God knows I'm gonna need the numbing cream to go thru with it. Once it turns up I'll give it a crack and let you know if it does any good.

Still can't get the skin to peel as yet. Iodine bloody hurts though! Stings like an absolute b***h!! If you thought TT oil was bad, then give iodine a shot. Lol. Just to clarify... With the peroxide: are you immersing and leaving your c**k in the solution? Or just applying with a cotton tip and then rolling the skin back?

Also... Just wondering do you prescribe to the whole:' You have to leave the foreskin pulled back all the time' theory? I just can't get used to it at all... but am persevering for now. Feels mighty weird and sensitive rubbing on my jocks all day... I guess the answer is free balling?

Anyway... Bought comfrey cream and Manuka honey. Will trial it all and see what gets a reaction/result. In the meantime, that's for all the info and advice. Helping a lot mate.

    5. I got a few frights over skin I was convinced was 'spreading' at a few stages. In reality, it never was. That's not to say your experience will be the same, of course.

The thing to remember is, I've found a solution to my BXO, as have others. There's every chance you'll find what works for you too. So even if you DO make a net loss initially, eventually you'll get it all back in the long run.

With the peroxide, what I did was get a squirt bottle (used for administering saline nasal drops) and fill it with peroxide. I would then squirt it over the head and foreskin, the slide it back and forward a few times so all the area was covered, then leave it forward to do its thing.

I never left myself uncovered all the time. I found it nigh on impossible to achieve, for many of the reasons you mentioned. More than anything else, urine is the key problem you want to get rid of. I found there's very little difference between being fully exposed all the time versus not at all, as long as you're keeping urine away. I also think sweat plays a part as well. If you can keep yourself clean of sweat and urine, I would just try and keep the area exposed when you can.

    6. Will try out the squirt bottle with the peroxide. At the moment it looks like a war zone though so I'm gonna have to lay off anything for a few days I think. Hoping for the elusive peel to happen, but not looking like its gonna happen anytime soon. In the meantime I've ordered pretty much every goddamn thing that's been mentioned here to try as well. As you said, I guess it's a case by case thing for the individual as to what will eventually work. Will be trying no dairy, no refined sugar diet wise and see how that plays out as well.

    1. Hi there and thanks for your question. Most of the answers to your questions are contained within the pages of this blog. However, in summary, the single best thing I (and lots of others) have found helps is to dry the affected area and keep it dry. There are many other treatments, including 3% Hydrogen Peroxide, Manuka Honey, Tea Tree Oil and Comfrey, but if you do only one thing, make it dryness.

How long for results varies between individuals, but expect to wait at least 3 weeks before noticing anything. And even then, all you will probably see is the early stages of peeling.

It's hard to advise more without knowing how severe your case is.

  8. Dear friend thanks for sharing this. I guess I have same problem. The top of my glans and part of foreskin under is affected with that white dry thing (dont even know how to name it), but it is a bit smaller than your condition. I must to say it is embarissing disease and I realy feel uncomfortable to talk with someone about it not even mention to visit a doctor. I can send to you few pictures of my condition if you want to give me some advice or suggestion, it would be helpfull for me. Thank
Also Im 23 y.o. uncircumised white male.

    1. Thanks for your comment. Yes this is a very embarrassing disease and can play havoc with your self esteem and confidence. But believing you can overcome it is the first step.

What have you tried thus far? Do you know how long you have had this condition for? You could upload your picture to somewhere like picpaste.com and share the link in another comment so I can have a look. Bear in mind that I can't offer medical advice, but can share my opinion.
