8000 pageviews and counting

I'm up to over 8000 pageviews. That's a really good thing, as it shows I'm having the impact I wanted to - reaching out to people suffering from BXO, and perhaps helping them along the way. I've had a couple of requests for offline contact recently. I'm definitely keen on that, provided, of course, it doesn't become obsessive. At the end of the day, I'm just a guy. I blog about BXO all the time, but my life doesn't revolve around it.

In my last post, I said I was going to try a further month on Creme Complete, then perhaps switch to Perrin's Blend, if the CC didn't speed things up. Over that time, I seem to have developed a bit of eczema around my groin in a few patches, and itching is not uncommon with that. There were a few spots around my BXO that were getting equally inflamed, so I decided to lay off the Creme Complete. I also decided it was probably not smart to try the Perrin's Blend under those circumstances, but no big deal; I'm not really obsessing over BXO anymore. I got myself out of the 'this situation is not sustainable' situation early this year, and now I'm really just working through to try and restore as much 'normality' as I can, to both my appearance and my skin texture.

I've decided to switch back to trusty Comfrey of late, and it seems to be prompting some good peeling. Not in largish sheets, as is the case with Creme Complete, but also without the irritation of the eczema skin and general inflammation. I have noticed the amount of brown (eg returning back to normal) skin that is evident is increasing on the glans too.

Other than that, there's not really a great deal to report. I'm continuing to manage my BXO, and every day I make a conscious decision to do whatever I feel it needs in order to keep improving. Not a day goes by when I don't think about it, and how to best look after it right at that moment. Sometimes it might be a choice to add Comfrey, Creme Complete or even Hydrogen Peroxide, others, it might just be a deliberate decision to do nothing at all but keep it dry, or keep it wet with water, in the hope it encourages a small amount of peeling.

I think if there's one thing I've learned over the past couple of months, it's that BXO responds well to varied treatments. Sticking with one treatment for a long time just doesn't seem to yield the best results. After stopping Creme Complete, as previously mentioned, I had a few days where I would put it on for just 30 minutes, before removing it thoroughly, and noticed the peeling returning a few days later. So there really is no one single treatment that is the be all and end all. Keep trying different treatments, learn how they work for you, when they are needed and when they are harmful, and then treat yourself the way your body needs, each day.
